November Notations

Ponyboy Curtis

The youngest member of the gang was Ponyboy. Now I know that Ponyboy Curtis sounds like a nick name, but it’s not, “If you don’t believe me, look at my birth certificate.” Ponyboy isn’t the only weird name in his family. His brother’s name is Sodapop. Both of them belong to a gang called the greasers named after their famous super greasy hair. Ponyboy’s best friends name is Johnny. Johnny Cade was a 16 year old boy whose parents weren’t all the best. His mother yelled at him and his father often slapped him around. Most of the time he just crashed at any place but his own.
If I had to describe Ponyboy in one word, it would have to be dumb. He isn’t dumb in school, as a matter of fact; he is one of the smartest kids in his school. When I say he’s dumb, I mean that he jusft doesn’t use his head sometimes. Not to mention he is a track star at his school; he was the fastest in the gang by a long shot. The best part about Ponyboy was his hair. He treasured it like it was a million bucks. His thick black hair slowly folded back making him look like a jet. His clothes were made of simple one color t-shirts and blue jeans. That’s all the gang wore. Simple t’s and blue jeans.
Ponyboy and his brothers Sodapop and Darry have been through so much together. Their parents had died from a car crash awhile before. The three boys were forced to pay their own bills and do their own work. On the up side, they could do it anyway they wanted to. They are free but limited. The debate between the good and bad of their parent’s death
Ponyboy is a one of a kind soldier in the streets. He has gone from a boy with no dirt on him to boy with the grandest story to tell to his grandchildren. The future will be bright to Ponyboy considering his grades but he will always be a greaser from the street.
